Job Summary:
The Software
Engineering (SWE) Manager is responsible for directing the software efforts for the National Controls Corporation (NCC) and Vehicular Instrumentation Systems (VIS)
product lines. Key duties include providing hands on
management of a portfolio of projects and products throughout the
product life-cycle. The SWE Manager will ensure successful project outcomes through close coordination across our organization and directly with end customers to produce cost effective solutions within agreed project timelines and budgets. The SWE Manager will also drive improvements in our
product development processes by incorporating best practices from across the corporation and industry while regularly assessing the capability of the
engineering team to ensure we have the best talent available to support our customers.
The person in this role will travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the software
engineering leader and technical expert
Collaborate with cross functional groups, including
Sales,
Operations, and customer representatives to develop
product specifications, project plans and budgets
Coordinate new
product introductions with all stakeholders
Answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by the
engineering team members
Assure adherence to company’s
product development Stage Gate Process
Create and refine
engineering plans, processes, and procedures for
engineering staff
Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed, and the methods used, by
engineering staff
Conduct various tests and
quality assurance checks to verify the quality of completed projects
Coordinate software
engineering efforts across Warrenville (IL), Grand Junction (CO), Bangalore (India), and Reynosa (Mexico) locations.
Monitor and identify various staffing and training needs
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer
Engineering,
Computer Science,
Engineering, or a related field
Five years of software
engineering experience
Three years of supervisory experience
Desired Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Computer
Engineering,
Computer Science,
Engineering, or a related field
Embedded software experience in C++ and C
Experience with Software version control systems
Experience with Software build and deploy systems
Experience with automotive products like analog and digital clusters, body controllers and
UI/UX
Experience as an architect working on embedded systems with various operating systems like Linux, FreeRtos, bare-metal, etc.
Experience as an architect working on advanced technologies like Hypervisor,
AI/ML, RTOS, Linux BSP, Wifi, BT, USB 3.0, PCI
Express, SERDES, Modbus etc.
PMP Certification
Experience with ADAS and telematics
Experience with safety related systems
Understanding of ongoing and upcoming trends in automotive and industrial controls
Strong communication skills, with the ability to relate at all levels of an organization
Ability to communicate complex technical subjects with clarity and precision
Experience guiding and coaching people to develop core skills and
innovative solutions to problems

Location Information:
This position can be located in Warrenville, Illinois or Grand Junction, Colorado.
Warrenville, Illinois, approximately 30 miles west of Chicago, is a family-friendly community which offers a variety of activities; many that allow you to reconnect with nature. There are 500 miles of trails to explore, 30 lakes and ponds to visit, and several historic sites and museums to discover. For those who like to walk, jog, bike ride, or horseback ride, the Illinois Prairie Path runs through the center of town. Grand Junction, Colorado is the perfect city for art and outdoor enthusiasts. The city has a temperate climate with 245 days of sunny weather, so you can enjoy the city and its many outdoor activities year-round. Grand Junction offers views of the beautiful red rocks. The downtown area is a pedestrian-friendly spot with art sculptures everywhere you look and plenty of restaurants, galleries, and shops to keep you busy. The city has a botanical garden which is a great spot for a pretty, peaceful stroll. If you walk or bike the Riverfront Trail, you’ll see art murals all along the walkway. Grand Junction has more than 300 lakes. This is a great place to ski, golf, hike, and fish.
Salary Range:
The annual pay range for this position generally ranges between $140,000 - $180,000. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
