Software Engineer I @ Mercury Systems - Torrance, CA

In this role, you have the opportunity to be a part of a world-class Engineering Team for the Mission Systems Business Unit, a leading provider of safety-certifiable avionics, mission-critical, and Electronic Warfare solutions.

You are responsible for

• Modifying existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance
• Consulting with engineering staff to evaluate the interfaces between hardware and software, developing specifications and performance requirements, and resolving customer problems
• Conferring with engineering staff and project managers to obtain information for assigned projects
• Working on problems where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors
• Updating knowledge and skills to keep up with rapid advancements in computer technology
• Preparing reports and correspondence concerning project specifications, activities and status
• Developing code in Windows and Linux environments using C/C++/C#
• Working on both GUI applications and Real-time applications

To apply for this role, you must have the following skills and experience:

• Completing in 2022 or has completed a BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• C/C++ programming experience
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with engineers from other disciplines
• Experience with parallel and/or distributed computing concepts
• Experience working within a team environment
• Experience developing and delivering presentations (verbal and/or written) to key stakeholders
• Experience with MS Office tool suite

To succeed in this role, the following skills and experience are highly preferred:

• Real-time embedded experience
• C#/Python programming experience
• Experience Visual Studio
• Experience with WPF is a plus
• Experience with Real-time Linux
• Experience with Source Control (Git, Bitbucket, etc.)
• Experience with Scrum, Agile methodologies
• Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
