HVCA Engineer

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under direction of the HVAC Engineer's leadership, The HVAC, refrigerator and generator systems are maintained in a safe and efficient manner for all those who use them in accordance with the mission, vision and values of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list may not include all of the responsibilities assigned.)
1. Inspection of physical plant and assets
2. Diagnose the cause of problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning/ventilation systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacements
3. Practical knowledge of building automation controls an asset
4. Inspect HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) to evaluate condition, identify necessary repairs and recommend preventive maintenance
5. Read and interpret shop drawings and control schematics
6. Conduct customer training in use and operation of building automation systems
7. Responsible for start-up and commissioning of building automation systems
8. Inform management regarding procedures and/or status of work orders and PM's on all HVAC, generators and refrigeration equipment
9. Repair, install or overhaul of equipment including plumbing, electrical, HVAC and refrigeration. Document and maintain all certificates and licenses associated with the generators, HVAV equipment and refrigerators inclining the TempTrak system. Prepare written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) as required
10. Handles material ordering for HVAC, generator or refrigerators, whether it is a new piece of equipment or the repair of existing equipment.
11. Completes special projects as assigned.
12. At times supervise co-workers and assign them tasks. Follow up assessment may be needed.
13. Works as a team player supporting a variety of staff.
14. Displays a caring and responsive attitude and conducts all activities respecting patient, family and employee rights and expectations.
15. Demonstrates sound cost containment techniques.
16. Adheres to established safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
17. Maintains and evaluates own clinical expertise and practice. Recognizes legal and policy limits of individual practice.
18. Maintains certification and license requirements and submits required evidence of certification/licensure as needed.
19. Adheres to all policies and procedures.
20. Completes annual performance and competency evaluation process with management and participates in goal setting, performance improvement and educational training as needed.
21. Participates in department quality improvement, clinic safety, infection control and hazardous materials programs/activities.
22. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
23. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
24. Adheres to HIPAA regulations.
25. Exercises discretion and maintains high level of confidentiality.

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE:
  • High School diploma required.
  • Air Conditioning & Refrigeration certificate and Ozone Depletion required.
  • 5 years experience in HVAC repair required.
  • Computer literacy required.
