We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer (EE) to join our Electrical Technologies team located in Rancho Bernardo. We are looking for someone with drive, talent, and experience in Embedded Systems and Controls who also thrives in a fast-paced, Research and Development (R&D) environment. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager of Electrical Technologies and, alongside high-caliber staff, will be engaged in the engineering support and new development of Embedded Controls for aerospace systems, small satellites, cutting-edge ventures into “NewSpace,”and a variety of other technologies in the expanding product portfolio of GA-EMS. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with GA-EMS Engineering staff and chief engineers in the concept development and prototype design, integration, and test of Embedded Controls for aerospace systems and Small Satellites using modern high-power processing solutions in custom, high-requirement hardware designs. With limited management consultation, serve as a recognized authority in Embedded Systems and Controls development; conceptualize, articulate, direct, oversee, and implement innovative resolutions to highly technical and complex engineering problems; and determine technical objectives for the review, research, design, development, and/or solutions for designated engineering systems, projects, and programs. Anticipate and report on future engineering challenges that will directly impact the present and future engineering objectives of the business. Effectively counsel, mentor and transfer highly specialized technical engineering knowledge to management, professional, and support staff. Evaluate the integration of the engineering solutions within the overall engineering environment and ensure that appropriate development, documentation, testing, and engineering updates are completed. Plan for future applications of solutions based on new developments in engineering technology. Develops new and expands existing business opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned or required. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. Must be a nationally recognized expert in one or more engineering fields as demonstrated by: original work(s) published in national professional engineering journals; invited presentations to national engineering symposiums; participation as Chair on national engineering review panels; and, engineering patents held. Required Experience: Embedded systems, software, and controls for high-requirements systems using modern processing platforms and devices. Demonstrated leadership ability by directing/developing the solutions to highly technical and complex engineering problems. Must possess the ability to: guide the resolution of unusually complex technical problems; champion the development of new concepts and principles; and, serve as an expert spokesperson on those concepts and principles. Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with experience in project and engineering leadership. Must possess excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, be customer-focused, and be able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment. Must be able to prepare and conduct detailed technical presentations and reviews for all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
