The focus of this role shall be to provide architecture services and designs for applied technology research and innovation projects across SCE. You will collaborate with business and IT teams to identify and capture technology solutions and drive the design execution from concept to completion. Your work efforts will result in technology/ capability solutions and a pipeline that services current and future capabilities within and across SCE business units.

Typical Responsibilities:

• Translates business needs into solution architecture requirements, defines multiple solution options to new and maturing business capabilities and understands the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives.
• Works with Agile development teams to define solutions and provide technical leadership to a team of passionate software engineers to build, implement and operate mobile, robotics, and advanced analytics solutions
• Analyzes SCE Use Cases, translate and innovate into solutions in areas not limited to AR/VR, Blockchain, AI/ML etc
• Guides the development of architecture vision and logical architecture deliverables for complex applications.
• Uses and implements overall EA solution patterns and gains acceptance of solutions through all the governance processes.
• Ensures that the solutions under consideration appropriately cover all domains including application, integration, cybersecurity, and infrastructure.
• Addresses support, scalability, and decommissioning requirements for all solution definitions.
• Collaborates with technology domain, data, integration and security architects to ensure the solutions designed meets SCE standards, roadmap and vision.
• Coordinates with solution architects and Enterprise Architects to understand the appropriate business/portfolio direction and to ensure that the solution under consideration supports the direction for the business capabilities.

The essentials

• Ten (10) or more years of experience within Information Technology, Operations, Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Application Development and/or technical related field.
• Five (5) or more years of experience in software engineering and development, knowledge of standard System Development Lifecycle models, methodologies and coding standards.
• Experience working in projects using Agile Development and DevOps
• Experience with microservices based and distributed architectures
• Experience working with large enterprise systems in a very complex enterprise environment.
• Knowledge and experience in IT architecture and/or software and systems design/engineering disciplines and practices including industry standard approaches and frameworks.

The preferred

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related technical major/ subject area.
• Experience designing and creating solutions using Emerging Platforms, including those in the areas of Augmented Reality/ Virtual Reality, Wearables (eg HoloLens, Google glasses, Oculus etc), Blockchain (public like Ethereum, business like Hyperledger fabrics etc), Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning, Robotic Process Automation Implementations, etc..
• Experience leveraging public Cloud platforms and services to develop applications at scale, including Azure, Google and AWS
• Experience in designing and creating solutions using full stack mobile technologies not limited to Swift, React JS/Native, Node JS, MongoDB, Python, RDBMS, Serverless Functions etc
• Knowledge of TOGAF or other Enterprise Architecture Standards or Framewor
• Experience with electric utility business processes, with emphasis on Transmission and Distribution Engineering, Generation, Grid Operations, or Customer Service.
• Experience communicating sophisticated analyses and information, creating high-quality presentations, proposals, statements of work, and assessment artifacts for presentations to a broad range of collaborators including senior management, executives.

• This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
