Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for a Software Engineer OR Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.
Essential Function:
The Software Engineer/Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, coding, and implementing tools and capabilities in support of test and operation of spacecraft and payloads across multiple SSSD programs. Job duties include:
Design, code, implement, and troubleshoot spacecraft integration & test tools and applications with a focus on augmenting capabilities of several existing and new-to-campus System Test Controller (STC) applications.
Ensure developed applications & tools meet functional and performance requirements.
Perform unit, integration, & regression testing of applications and tools.
Design and develop APIs.
Act as a conduit across multiple programs and provide timely and effective technical support to ensure developed tools/capabilities meet evolving programmatic and user needs.
See projects through from conception to finished product and provide maintenance/enhancements as required.
Ensure that thorough, clear, and complete documentation is created and maintained to support current and future development activities.
Actively participate in User Interface (UI) design and code reviews.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Level 2 Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 2 years of engineering experience OR a Masters of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 0 years of experience
Experience with Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems
Proficiency with fundamental front end languages such as HTML, CSS or JavaScript
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance and/or SCI Access
Must be able to travel at least 10% of the time
Level 3 Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 5 years of engineering experience OR a Masters of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 3 years of experience
Experience with Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems
Proficiency with fundamental front end languages such as HTML, CSS or JavaScript
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance and/or SCI Access
Must be able to travel at least 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
Active, in scope DoD Top Secret Clearance / SCI Access
Possess strong self-initiative and ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex issues and possess ability to multi-task
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with software, hardware, and systems test engineers, system administrators, and program/functional management.
Proficient with at least one of the following languages C, C++, C#, Python, and/or Java
Familiarity with databases such as MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, or Access
Experience with configuration management software such as Git
Familiar with Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) and Object-oriented Programming (OOP)
Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira, Git, Subversion, Confluence, etcsss
Familiar with Agile Software methodologies (Scrum or Kanban)
Prior full lifecycle software development experience
Prior experience with web frameworks such as Django or Flask
Prior Integration & Test (I&T) experience
Prior experience with spacecraft or payload assembly, integration, and test
Experience with System Test Controllers (STCs) such as DSATS, Maestro, or InControl NG
