SSSD Business Management has an opening for a Program Planning and Scheduling Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Redondo Beach, California.

In this position, the Manager will provide supervision, guidance, and development to a small team of Program Planning & Scheduling Analysts and will prepare, develop, and coordinate the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) to meet all program objectives. The incumbent selected will interface with upper management, human resources, compliance, program leadership, and security and will perform detailed schedule, resource, work, and cost analysis to make recommendations and solve problems.

This position requires the incumbent to possess a Department of Defense (DoD) active Top Secret (TS) security clearance or access to Special Compartmentalized Information (SCI).

Roles and responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform mid-year and year-end performance reviews
  • Oversee staffing, performance management, and coaching development of the data administration and development staff
  • Create presentation content and present to various levels of leadership on business development tools and/or Program specific requests to validate schedule health as well as comply to our CDRL requirements.
  • Develops and maintains configuration management tools to support Project Control, Schedule Performance, Data Integrity, DCMA checks, Forecast Accuracy, and Giver/Receiver continuity.
  • Identifies the needs of new and future programs to ensure consistency of support
  • Create harmony and cohesion between the unrestricted and restricted program scheduling tools for cross pollination and similarity.
  • Train, guide, and develop the unrestricted and restricted team to create and/or improve power BI reports, configurate software in the use of management tools and implementation of software quality.
  • Build procedures to support these tools.
  • Effectively work with multiple functional teams, supplier teams, and the Program/Project Manager


Implements scheduling best practices as prescribed by industry to include, but not limited to:

  • DCMA 14-point
  • IPMR DI-MGMT-81861
  • NDIA EIA-748 32 Guidelines
  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Critical Path Methodology (CPM)
  • Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA)
  • Schedule Performance and Health Metrics and Analysis

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 6 years of experience in any combination of Planning & Scheduling, Finance, Pricing, Program Management, or Engineering experience; OR Master’s degree with 4 years of stated experience
  • Leadership experience
  • DoD TS Clearance and/or SCI Access


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Project Server environment
  • Knowledge of Integrated Master Plan (IMP) and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) development; Schedule Risk
  • Assessment (SRA) approach and execution
  • Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees, management, and executive leadership

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows an employee to work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday with every other Friday off.



Salary Range: $122,200 USD - $183,400 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
