Senior Software Engineer

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer at ComplYant, you will have the opportunity to own your projects from beginning to end and build features that truly make an impact for our customers. If you are a skilled PHP/Larevel Full-stack developer, this is an opportunity to work in an independent remote work environment where you will be trusted to prioritize what matters most and will constantly grow. This role is ideal for Engineers that have experience with building code across the entire tech stack and love to build customer-facing features. This is a chance to make a direct impact on processes by encouraging best practices and redefining the ComplYant user experience alongside our Product team. Engineers are a key part of evolving our platform and regularly work with our highly-skilled developers to improve product offerings, calculate risks and make trade-offs to drive the business forward. This role would be ideal for Senior IC Engineers who like to provide mentorship and support the development of junior engineers with a growth mindset.

Day-to-Day

Build and improve code across the entire stack (Laravel, Tailwind, Alpine, Livewire, Filament, Nova, Inertia, Vue) for new and existing products and features.
Practice and encourage software engineering best practices, including; reasonable test coverage, appropriate modularization, and designing cohesive interfaces.
Debug and improve existing ComplYant services by collaborating closely with our team of highly-skilled and knowledgeable developers.
Redefine and improve our product experience, from user stories through implementation.
Participate in a rotating on-call duty, shared with the rest of the engineering team.
Be a key part of evolving our platform by bringing your unique point-of-view.
Nurture, mentor, and foster the growth of junior engineering team members.
Adjust to the shifting needs of the team with an occasional shift in duties (note that advance notice is required by supervisors).

Basic Qualifications

7+ years of professional engineering experience.
Demonstrable full-stack expertise, specifically, with PHP and Laravel, Vue and Tailwind.
Comfort writing original database queries and fully leveraging Eloquent.
Pragmatic approach to engineering that strikes a balance between beautifully clean code, maintainability, and time-to-market.
Mentorship or Leadership skills.
Advanced troubleshooting and High-level project management skills.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Appreciation for a test-driven, code-review culture.

Bonus Points

Experience with the Filament PHP toolkit, Blade, Livewire, or Alpine.
Knowledge of AWS, Laravel Vapor, Docker, Forge, or other hosting and systems tools.
Experience with or significant knowledge of RFC 2549 or 1149.
Experience in Banking, Bookkeeping, Finances/Taxes, B2B, or FinTech.
Previous experience as a freelancer, contractor, side-hustler, business-owner or contributing to open-source/community projects.
