Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all activities related to web portals, web sites, and web services. Provide supervision of web development maintenance through code standards, code documentation and the use of a code repository. Lead a team of developers in design, development, and training of a wide range of custom web solutions. Perform all duties in accordance with the University’s policies and procedures, all US state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the University operates.

The hiring range for this position is $107,161.00 - $134,027.00 per year. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: geographical location, knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members.


Receive direction from the Associate Vice Chancellor, Information Systems

Direction – indicates that the incumbent attains specific goals and objectives in a broad area of work. Only the final results of work done are typically reviewed. Incumbent typically develops procedures within the limits of established policy guidelines.




  • Work collaboratively with functional departments to develop, implement, and maintain web solutions to meet the University’s objectives
  • Develop ASP.NET C# applications, JavaScript, jQuery UI, and other scripting languages to provide support to public facing UMass Global site using Sitecore technology
  • Create SharePoint sites, sub-sites, forms, custom lists, reports, site navigation, site search and workflows to support functional requirements
  • Develop and document standards, design patterns and perform code reviews to ensure that team members are following standards, documenting projects and checking code into the code repository
  • Work with other development teams to leverage web services and API integration with other systems, including Banner, Salesforce, Regent, ImageNow, Self Service, and other custom solutions
  • Administer and maintain a source code repository for the Information Systems team
  • Lead routine performance reviews and security reviews of all web applications
  • Perform other duties, as assigned


Special Conditions of Employment: Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Position may be required to work flexible hours particularly given campuses’ extended hours of operation and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.   • Strong technical knowledge of web technologies and frameworks such as ASP, ASP.NET, JavaScript, CSS3, HTML5, SharePoint, Photoshop, HTML tools, MS Office, MS Visio, Adobe Connect, search engines and content management packages

  • Bachelor’s degree, related credential, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of web development and content management experience for both public-facing websites (Sitecore) and internal portal systems (SharePoint).
  • 5+ years of web programming experience with HTML, stylesheets, JavaScript, and ASP.NET, Web API.
  • 3+ years of experience with relational database systems, such as Oracle, SQL Server or MySQL.
  • 3+ years of creating web services, SOAP, REST, and Service Oriented Architecture.
  • 3+ years leading a team of web developers.
  • Experience with the latest versions of .NET.
  • Experience with SharePoint Online and PowerApps
  • Sitecore experience in design, coding, testing, implementation, and documentation of Sitecore Content Management solutions.


  • Sitecore 10.3 certified
  • Familiar with Octopus, Jenkins, Solr (Searchstax)
  • Understand CD/CI architecture
  • Familiar with AWS, Azure, SSO, & Active Directory
  • Familiar with monitoring tools: Cloudflare, AppDynamics, or Splunk
  • Familiar with web accessibility (ADA standards)
  • Experience working with JavaScript libraries, such as jQuery UI, and Knockout preferred.
  • Experience with responsive design and stylesheet coding preferred.
  • Extensive experience with Atlassian products and git

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DEVICES and SOFTWARE: Web based systems and installed software packages, including web tools and software such as: ASP, ASP.NET, SharePoint, Photoshop, HTML tools, MS Office, MS Visio, search engines and content management packages. Personal computer and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including word, excel, and outlook.
