Scope of Role: -

The successful applicant for this position will join our Connected Car test team to work on various customer projects to test Infotainment and SMART features. They will be able to create, test and sign off plans, from system requirements and shall be able to test and validate software and infotainment functions against those test plans. The applicant shall be able to generate and progress issues via the customer chosen issue tracking software and provide test reports for the testing carried out.

Dimension of Function: -

Our Engineering Research and Development team (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers.

The infotainment team within ER&D is responsible for hardware and software that delivers the entertainment system and vehicle information interface to the user.

A position within the infotainment team requires a highly motivated and hands on team player with exceptional attention to detail, pro-activeness, diligence, a positive attitude and the ability to communicate well. Our customers expect high standards and we require staff capable of meeting such demands.

ER&D Core, HR, Customer contacts, Offshore teams, Tool vendors and suppliers.

Area of Responsibility: -

• Working directly with the customer Connected Car engineers and internal TTL Connected Car engineers to understand current test requirements and infotainment features/ SMART Features.
• Development of test plans and test specifications at system and sub-system level to ensure good test coverage to ensure a robust and quality software delivery.
• Work with system experts to understand system requirements and features to ensure coverage of testing meets expectations.
• Raise and manage resolution of issues through issues tracking systems (customer dependent).
• Understand the programme timing and ensure test planning and delivery of testing in accordance with that timing and resource availability.
• Reporting of issues and status of testing against customer milestones and gateways.
• Highlight and plan the need for particular resources and equipment required for the testing (e.g. rigs, vehicles, labcars, CANalysers etc.). Ensuring the request for these resources is made in a timely manner so they are available when required.
• Discuss knowledge gaps and system requirements with system experts to enable thorough test coverage.
• Development of test scripts and software panels to enable repeatable and efficient testing of regular software drops.
• Support setup, commissioning and refinement of test system(s) and test automation.
• Work with external test houses where required to ensure facility bookings are made in time to support test planning.
• Provide test reports highlighting passes and failures of the testing carried out as evidence of software maturity and sign off.

Knowledge / Experience Essential: -

• Electrical, electronic, control systems or automotive engineering degree 2:1 or above or equivalent qualification or experience.
• Previous experience of manual and automated test execution and development.
• Familiarity with typical software and test development processes.
• Familiarity with requirements capture and requirement toolsets to generate test cases to validate requirements.
• Familiarity of DVP test planning and resource management.
• Experience of CANoe is vital and other Vector tools (such as CANalyser) or other equivalent network evaluation tools is also important.
• Knowledge of automotive networks such as CAN, FlexRay, LIN, A2B, MOST etc.
• Understanding of the systems development lifecycle (V-model).
• Ability to produce formal documentation to a professional standard.
• Excellent organisational, communication and planning skills.
• Experience of designing and executing test strategies and plans for complex automotive systems.
• Good grasp of test result analysis, issue reporting and problem-solving techniques.

Desirable:

• Prior experience in automotive system development and\or validation would be beneficial.
• Strong interest in automotive control system development including diagnostic and functional safety aspects.
