Dragon currently delivers cargo and astronauts to the International Space Station. Successful Dragon launches will enable future missions will ultimately seek to extend humanity's reach far beyond the earth and moon.


  • Perform hands-on engineering and liaison role between the design teams and production organization as SpaceX works to iterate on the design and ramp into the manufacturing phase

  • Create high-quality work orders, engineering masters, and other manufacturing resource planning and product life cycle management system elements to manufacture composite structural assemblies for Dragon 2 vehicles

  • Primary point of contact for non-conforming product, troubleshooting, root cause, failure investigations and corrective actions

  • Contribute to design reviews acting as the expert in design for manufacturability, yield improvements, supplier capabilities assessments, and quality control

  • Work with production leadership teams to clear daily shop floor roadblocks

  • Resolve manufacturing discrepancies and interface with the manufacturing engineering and build reliability teams to implement cost-effective solutions

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts of established products

  • Implement standard practices, troubleshooting guides, and standard repair procedures


  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or 5+ years of experience working in an aerospace manufacturing technician, planning, or direct support role

  • Experience creating manufacturing planning or build process instructions


  • Ability to demonstrate a solid understanding of composites lamination, structural bonding, mechanical assembly, and thermal protection system fabrication techniques

  • Experience taking products from development cycle to full volume production

  • Experience with Siemens NX (UG) and Teamcenter CAD systems

  • Hands-on engineer with a passion for continuous improvement and building the best hardware

  • Understanding of common manufacturing processes and machines, including mills, lathes, manual and CNC

  • Working proficiency with PFMEA and 5 Why methodology and implementation

  • Basic competency with SQL databases

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Experience with design for manufacturability

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
