Early Childhood - Preschool/Pre-K Floating Teacher - Part Time


The Float Teacher is responsible for the care and safety of children Infants - 5 years old. The Floating Teacher's responsibilities include covering in all classrooms during various times of the day which will include coverage for breaks, planning time, and provide support to the classroom teachers.

Shift times are between 11:00 am - 5:30 pm. Monday-Friday at our Exeter location.

  • Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
  • Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.


An associate teacher in a center based program shall be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma, and meet one of the following options:

(1) A minimum of 9 early childhood credits, including at least one 3 credit course in child growth and development, from a regionally accredited college;

(2) A minimum of 1500 hours of supervised child care experience in a licensed child care program or public or private elementary school, with written recommendation from the center director or school administrator, documentation of at least 3 early childhood education credits awarded by a regionally accredited college or university, and the following: a. A written plan for completion of at least 6 additional early childhood education credits from a regionally accredited college or university; and b. Within 12 months of the date the individual begins working as an associate teacher, documentation of qualification as specified in (1) above available for review by the department; (3) A minimum of 1000 hours of supervised child care experience in a licensed child care program and documentation of successful completion of a 2 year vocational child care course; or (4) Written documentation from or on file with the department that she or he was qualified for the position of associate teacher on or before the date of the adoption of these rules.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and experience working with children in preferred.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification
