Software Engineer 2 @ DELUXE CORPORATION - Calabasas, CA

Primary focus of the Software Engineer 2 role is to gain understanding of all the product components and build on previous development best practices around coding & design. The expectation from this role is to continually improves one’s coding & design skills, while contributing to build quality software and release in a timely manner.

Responsibilities include

• Gains understanding of product codebase and continuously improve one’s coding skills

• Can independently design & complete multiple tasks, given context around the feature and defects from a more senior engineer

• Assists one’s team & development manager in all tasks including but not limited to software design, coding, testing, documentation and deployment

• Uses and understands tools to debug and diagnose issues in test as well as production environments

• Actively participates in Scrum/Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily standups, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives

• Collaborates with other Scrum Team members & stakeholders and work as a team member. Constructively escalates problems and issues

• Shows initiative and proactively helps teams as needed. Provides guidance to entry level engineers

• Motivated to continuously improve one’s development best practices and learn new software & technologies

Basic Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors and 2 years or HS/GED and 5 years

• Good foundation of development best practices and experience writing real world application integrating databases and operating systems

• Experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOPs) concepts and using at least one Object Oriented language like c#, Java

• Worked in a Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodology like Scrum/Agile

Preferred Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• Master’s degree in computer science or related discipline

• Minimum 2 years experience & expertise in specific frameworks like Microsoft .Net Framework, .Net Core, Java Spring Boot, JavaScript React, Angular etc.

• Minimum 2 years experience & expertise in specific language like c#, Java, JavaScript, Bootstrap etc.

Minimum 2 years Experience in specific database technologies SQL, No SQL, BI etc
