Sr. Software Engineer


Job Overview
We are looking for talented software engineers excited about the future of precision medicine. As a software engineer at Ambry, you’ll gain industry-leading experience in AGILE software development while working at the cutting edge of clinical genetics. You will be working with bright minds in both science and technology to develop innovative solutions, leveraging the latest technologies to make our diagnostics testing even better. As part of a project team here at Ambry, you’ll primarily be responsible for the development portion of the Software Development Life Cycle. Our primary stack is web-focused, utilizing technologies such as Docker, Nginx, Symfony, Redis, ReactJS, MySQL, MongoDB, and more! In this role, you’ll be working closely with our parent company, Konica Minolta to develop global solutions. Knowledge of genetics and/or the genetic testing industry is a huge plus.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work in a project team that primarily handles one or two applications.
  • Gather requirements from a project manager and a technical lead.
  • Write clean testable code to pass HIPAA software development requirements.
  • Support stakeholders/end users (mostly internal) with troubleshooting and or general application support.
  • Help project managers/business analysts with requirements gathering for new features or enhancements.
  • Use the issue tracking system in place (JIRA) to support HIPAA software development guidelines.
  • Work necessary hours to accomplish tasks at hand, which may include off-hours due to working with teams in other time zones.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors/advanced degree in Computer Science (or similar relevant specialization) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency in modern web application development
  • Relational databases
  • Backend languages (PHP, Go, Java)
  • Frontend (HTML, CSS, ReactJS)
  • Must have ability to read and write a variety of structured formats (ex: XML, JSON, CSV, TSV)
  • Experience with frameworks and libraries such as Symfony v2/3/4 and ReactJS is highly recommended
  • Experience with modern toolchains/concepts: cloud computing, containerization, and CI/CD is a plus
  • Experience with consumption and production of web services (example: REST, SOAP, AMQP) is a plus
  • 4+ years of experience in professional software development overall.
  • 3+ years relational database experience (ex: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • 3+ years experience with OOP paradigms in any language (ex: PHP, Java, C++)
  • 2+ years experience in PHP and JavaScript
