Inventory Technician Senior

Position Summary & Duties Responsible

POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, perform a variety of procurement and inventory procedures and assist in administrative duties as assigned.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY
  • Receive, review and prepare purchase requisitions ensuring conformance to procurement code and specific grant regulations.
  • Obtain written or verbal price quotes from vendors for products and/or services. Assist in the preparation of formal bids and prepare requests for proposals as directed.
  • Receive, confirm and acknowledge receipt of goods. Maintain shipping and receiving log for incoming and outgoing items.
  • Issue law enforcement equipment and retrieve all returned equipment.
  • Coordinate repair of radios and pagers.
  • Maintain security access card-key system including activation and issuance of card-keys to law enforcement personnel.
  • Conduct periodic inventory and audits on behalf of the Sheriff Department and Material Management Department.
  • Maintain the office supply stockroom; issue and order supplies as needed.
  • Create, modify and maintain automated inventory systems, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Maintain filing system for department inventory and purchase orders. Compile narrative or statistical information and prepare standard reports.
  • Type correspondence and a variety of other materials from rough draft.
  • Answer the telephone, transfer calls, and take messages as assigned.
  • Assist in other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Perform other job related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED, plus four (4) years' related experience in purchasing and/or inventory control. OR any related combination of education from an accredited college or university or related experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience and may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
  • Employee must have a valid New Mexico driver's license by employment date and maintain a valid NM driver's license while employed in this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA'S)
  • Knowledge of purchasing principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of effective inventory control methods.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures such as establishment and maintenance of filing systems.
  • Ability to maintain records in an automated inventory and supply system.
  • Ability to develop, maintain and analyze reports.
  • Skill in the use of a variety of types of office machines including computer and calculator.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.
  • Ability to understand New Mexico statutes regarding government purchasing.
  • Ability to interact professionally with supervisors and co-workers.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS


The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following:
  • Employee must successfully complete the post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation.
  • Employee must comply with the safety guidelines of the County.
  • Must pass oral board examination.
  • Employee must complete required FEMA training(s) as assigned to position.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • All essential duties are performed indoors.
  • Duties are performed in a temperature-controlled environment.
  • Duties are performed on an even surface, which may be carpeted or tile. Working surface is typically dry.
  • Worker often works alone both with or without directions from supervisor.

EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND MATERIALS
  • Equipment typically used in the performance of office duties include telephone, computer terminal, computer printer, computer keyboard, photocopy machine, fax machine and calculator.
  • Materials and products handled in the course of performing essential duties include files, forms, reports, various other paperwork, a wide variety of basic office supplies and various types of law enforcement equipment.
